FRENCH LITERATURE OF THE XIXth CENTURY

 The seminar will consist in analyzing  more in detail  some aspects of the French literature from the end of the XVIIIth to the the early XXth century, especially as shown in the memories of famous writers (Balzac, Flaubert, Hugo,  Cros, Schwob). Selected texts will be read and commented, and students shall present chapters of their M.A. theses. 

Credit  assiduity, submission of M.A. theses till the end of the term.

 

The bibliography will be indicated during the academic year.

FRENCH LITERATURE OF THE XXth CENTURY - M.A. seminar

The programme of the course is focused on the main problems present in the French literature since 1885 until the present, as viewed through the planned  M.A. theses (the success of the Russain novel in France, the poetry of Cendrars, Cocteau and the cinema, the bergsonism and the literary critics, Breton and painting, the present state of studies on the Alcools by Apollinaire.

Credit: This seminar is submitted to special exigences. A M.A. thesis shall be sustained in the end of the academic year.

LITERARY CRITICS IN THE XXth CENTURY

A seminar devoted to the crucial issues of the evolving literary critics in the XXth century. The most important currents in critics will be studied, and special attention given to the discussion of metacritics.    This seminar is conceived as a two-year course, and has specific requirements. In the end of the second year, each students will have to complete and sustain a M.A. thesis.
