METHODOLOGY OF TEACHING FRENCH

The students will learn how French was taught  hundreds of years ago, but before all they will assimilate the communicative method: authentic communication, communicative competence, analysis of general and linguistic competence as they are taken by the European Council (according to the European system of description of linguistic education) , speech acts and their application to design functional aims of a lesson. They will also be taught how to draw programmes, conceptualize grammar rules, analyze linguistic competencies in theory and practice; prepare lesson plans.

Some time will be devoted to the specificity of early school teaching, secondary and high school teaching as well as teaching of adults. The students will prepare themselves to the teaching of French by analyzing class books and additional materials.

The class will often take the form of simulating fragments of lessons; they base on the analysis of manuals in use, following the age group and the level of advancement.

Credit: activity, test, end-of-term composition (in the first term - using authentic documents in a lesson of French as FL, in the second term - submission of a full lesson project).

The rules and regulations concerning school practice are described in the chapter "Studies".
