DESCRIPTIVE GRAMMAR (1st term) - NOUN PHRASE

This course introduces students to the first part of the description of the French language, i.e. to the noun phrase.
The second term will be devoted to the verb phrase as well as to the simple sentence, and the third - to complex sentences.
Problems analyzed during the first term:
1. Morphology and syntax.
2. Parts of speech and the ways of classing them.
3. Word formation as a way to enrich the vocabulary.
4. The noun phrase and its place within the sentence; its syntaxic functions.
5. The noun and its grammatical categories.
6. The description of nouns regarding their relationships with other items - the matrix of lexical features.
7. Formal analysis of the noun phrase, inspired by the generative-transformational grammar.
8. Analysis of articles.
9. The adjective and its grammatical categories.
10. Classes of adjectives.
11. Syntactic functions of the adjective phrase.
12. Analysis of the noun phrase and its representing in a syntagmatic graph.
13. Pronouns, their classes, their properties and syntactic functions.
Credit for the lecture: test

Wykład ma na celu zapoznanie studentów z trzecią i ostatnią częścią zagadnień opisu języka francuskiego, dotyczącą zdania złożonego.
1.Zdanie (definicje, klasyfikacje, równoważniki zdań, zdanie minimalne, zdanie jądrowe, zdanie rozwinięte, zdanie proste/zdanie złożone itd.)
2.Typy i formy zdań (reguła przepisywania symbolu "Constituant")
3.Typ oznajmujący (Déclaration),
4.Typ pytający (L'interrogation),
5.Typ rozkazujący (L'impératif),
6.Forma przecząca (La négation),
7.Forma emfatyczna (L'emphase),
8.Forma bierna (Le passif),
9.Typy zdań złożonych (juxtaposition, coordination et subordination),
10.Klasyfikacja zdań podrzędnie złożonych (zdania dopełnieniowe, względne i okolicznikowe) 11.Zdania dopełnieniowe,
12. Transformacje wykonywane na zdaniach dopełnieniowych,
13. Zdania względne,
14.Transformacje właściwe dla zdań względnych,
15.Zdania okolicznikowe,
16. Transformacje właściwe dla zdań okolicznikowych.
Warunki zaliczenia:
Program i bibliografia takie same jak w przypadku wykładu. Wykład i ćwiczenia mają charakter uzupełniający.
Sposób zaliczenia :
Obecność i aktywny udział w ćwiczeniach, zaliczenie pisemnych prac kontrolnych.
Egzamin pisemny (w sesji letniej) obejmuje materiał z trzech semestrów GO.
Credit: activity, 2 tests.
Examination: written test (spring session) , including the material given in all three terms.

The second term will introduce the students to the second of the three domains of description of the French language - the verb phrase and the simple sentence.
1. Definition of a verb with its lexical features.
2. Grammatical categories of the verb:
a) the tenses - their different values,
b) the modes,
c) the aspects: their definition and the ways of expressing
d) the diathesis,
e) the person,
f) . the number.
3. Verbal constructions: pronominal and impersonal construction types.
4. Generative-transformational representation of the verb phrase:
a) transcription rule of the verb phrase (GV),
b) transcription rule of the "Aux" (auxiliairy) symbol,
c/ other components.
5. Prepositional phrase (SP) and the problemof its belonging to the verb phrase, the noun phrase, the adjectival phrase or to the sentence.
6. The adverb : general description, formal and semantic classment, gradatoin as the only grammatical caterory concerning it.
7. The oppositon between the verb argument and the sentence adjunct.
8. Less typical sentences: nominal sentnce, presentative sentences (beginning with: "voilà").
9. Uninflected parts of speech:
a) prepositions
b/ conjunctions (coordinating, subordinating; the conjunctions vs. connectors),
c/ interjections.
Tthe same programme and the same bibliography equally concerns the classes - the lecture and the classes are complementary. .
